Sprocket
grew up on the tiny island of Lindau
in a large lake in the south of Germany. As a 12 year old he
played his first DJ gig, with one DUAL turntable and two quick
hands. He recorded his own tracks wih custom made instruments
and whatever toys he could get his hands on. Two reel to reel
tape decks and a microphone were his studio.
Soon
he discovered his love for the synthesizer KORG
MS20 and began to pester the neighborhood with layers
of wacky sounds. His punk drummer friend Lippus and he spent countless
hours in a small room in the back of an old bakery and jammed
until their ears were burning- it was a wild time and they had
a hoot. The space was next to a railroad track and every few minutes
a train would pass and shake the building... |

Sprocket
experienced his college years in Berlin to study communications
& computer music while working with the original Fairlight
CMI. Living with the lunacy of The Wall became a strong influence
in his life and work. Just before the fall of The Wall, he moved
to Austin, Texas to produce programs for local access and the
SXSW music
festival.
His
path led him to the beautiful town of Hilo, on the lush side of
the Big Island. Here he makes honey, grows his own organic food
and helps preserve the historic Palace
Theater.
This island is a powerful force and a constant inspiration. Surrounded
by it's abundance of beauty and love, he still twists his knobs
and smiles...
